The family and friends of a teenager from Bradley County who had recently graduated from a local high school are devastated by the news of her tragic death. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that the 17-year-old teenager died when the car she was traveling in was involved in a truck accident. The accident investigation was underway at the time of this report.
Preliminary accident reports state that the teenager was in the process of turning at an intersection while the traffic light was green. A logging truck that was driven by a 20-year-old man failed to yield and smashed into the sedan, killing the teenager. The Tennessee Department of Safety reported that the truck driver was driving without the commercial driver’s license required for the vehicle he was operating.
The THP reported that the young man was transporting logs on a truck that belongs to a pulpwood and logging company. However, it was reported that the driver was not employed by the company. Regardless, any legal action that may follow could include the owner of the truck as well as the driver’s employer.

According to the media report, the family who lost their daughter in this tragic truck accident is experiencing financial difficulties brought about by the high costs of a funeral and burial. Fortunately, Tennessee laws allow a family who lost a loved one in an accident that was caused by the negligence of others to pursue financial relief. This may be done by filing a wrongful death claim in a civil court, and successful presentation, backed by documented evidence of negligence, may lead to monetary compensation to ease the financial burden.
