A motor vehicle accident is an unexpected event for which no one in can prepare. To make matters worse, accidents often result in serious injury or death. When someone dies in a motor vehicle accident due to the fault of another person, compensation may be available to family members if they file a wrongful death claim against the person responsible.
On July 8, Tennessee Highway Patrol representatives returned to Highway 51, where an accident occurred along the border of Tipton and Lauderdale counties. They were investigating a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old Ripley man last week. Meanwhile, the man’s mother was making plans for his funeral.
The accident took place during the early morning of July 5. Allegedly, another driver was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided, head-on, with the Ripley man’s car. Tennessee troopers believe that alcohol played a role in the crash – though it has not been specified whether the man who died was drinking. The mother of the deceased Ripley man is of the opinion that the speed limit along that stretch of highway should be reduced to 55 miles per hour in order to prevent further accidents.
