A Tennessee teenager has been charged with DUI after police say that he caused a 3-car accident. Three individuals were transported to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries suffered as a result of the motor vehicle accident. The accident happened at approximately 8:45 a.m. Such car accidents like this, caused by suspected drunk drivers, are all too common on Tennessee roadways.
Allegedly, the accident occurred when a 19-year-old driver smashed into a minivan with mentally handicapped riders inside it. The driver of the minivan along with two of its mentally handicapped passengers were injured. One was diagnosed with a broken arm, and another one with a broken hip.
A witness called 911 from his cellular phone and reported the erratic driving of the teenager only 30 seconds before the accident occurred. Fortunately, all involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and no fatal injuries resulted. Tennessee Highway Patrol has now charged the teenage driver of the car that struck the minivan with DUI.
Tennessee residents who become injured in car accidents caused by drunk drivers can seek justice by filing a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim can be a way for victims to get monetary relief to cover their medical treatment and rehabilitation following an accident. In many cases, accident victims may not have medical insurance of their own. Therefore, a monetary award from a successfully navigated personal injury claim can be enormously helpful to victims who might not be able to afford their medical care otherwise.
