On Monday morning, Oct. 22, a five-car accident took the life of one person and injured two others. The accident occurred along State Highway 18 at shortly after 8 a.m. The young man who lost his life in the motor vehicle accident was a basketball player for Jackson State Community College.
The police report for the incident claims that a car traveling northbound on the Tennessee highway went across the center line of the road and drove directly into opposing traffic. This car then smashed head-on into the front right side of the basketball player’s vehicle. The young man’s car flew backward, overturned and came to rest on its side.
Tragically, the young man did not survive his injuries sustained in the accident. Two other people were injured, but, as of Oct. 23, the seriousness of their injuries had yet to be released. Police do not suspect that alcohol or drugs played a part in this unfortunate event, but they continue to investigate.

Whenever a Tennessee driver is injured or killed in an accident, it affects their family members and friends, along with many others. Those who die in such accidents are sorely missed and mourned by the people they had regular contact within their daily lives. Family members, though, are the hardest hit by losing someone to a motor vehicle accident. Although no amount of reimbursement will ever be enough to replace a loved one lost from such a tragedy, family members have the right to file a wrongful death claim in instances where their relative was killed due to the fault of another driver.
