A single-car crash ended in tragedy on Nov. 21, according to local police sources. The motor vehicle accident happened on a Tennessee county road and is believed to have been exacerbated by high speeds. Police are still in the process of investigating whether this was the primary cause of the accident as of this writing.
Police reports indicate that the two men, both aged 23, were driving in a vehicle along Coffee County’s Lydell Bell Road at what police believe to be an extremely rapid pace. Apparently, the vehicle struck an embankment which caused it to overturn. Both men, who police believe were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, were ejected from the vehicle.
One of the two men was reported dead at the scene of the accident by arriving medical personnel. The other was airlifted to a local hospital with severe injuries, where his current status is listed as critical but stable. As both men were ejected from the vehicle it is unclear which one of the men was driving at the time of the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.

It will take some more investigation for Tennessee police to clear up the specifics of this motor vehicle accident and determine whether the driver was at fault for the crash. If he is found to have been driving recklessly as police suspect, and if the driver survived the crash, he could be held criminally liable for the death of his passenger. If the driver perished as a result of the crash, the passenger may elect to file a wrongful death suit against the driver’s estate to seek reimbursement for financial losses incurred due to the injuries suffered in the crash.
